Adoption Process, Adoption Deposit & Adoption Fee

A collection of questions related to the adoption process, adoption deposit and adoption fees.

What if I want to cancel my adoption?

You may cancel your adoption up to 48 hours within the transport date. Any adoption fees that you have paid will be refunded except the $75 deposit. This is because we are holding that pet for you and we stop accepting other applications on a pet once the deposit is paid.

If you have not notified us of your cancellation and just don't show up to meet the transport, no adoption fees will be refunded.

Do I have to put in a new application for each pet that I am interested in?

Not if you have applied fairly recently. You can email to let us know. You can also place more than one pets name on an application.

What happens after I place my adoption application?

We will process your application which can take up to 7 business days. You will be notified via email whether you are approved or not. We approve one adopter per pet. You will then be given the phone number to the foster parents so you can speak with them before making an adoption commitment. A non-refundable $75  deposit is required to hold your pet for you once you let us know that you do want to adopt.

How can I be sure that my application was received?

Be sure that you hit "submit" at the end of the application. You should then be redirected to a page stating that your application has been received. We also recommend that you email to let us know that you have placed an application so we can confirm that it was received.

What if I cannot receive my pet on the next available transport?

We then encourage you to use the above mentioned individual driver with the more flexible schedule. Once a pet is adopted, we count on that pet leaving on the first available transport because we usually have pets waiting to come into the adoption program. If we have to keep the pet longer then there is a $10 a day boarding fee.

Why do I see the pet that I am interested in posted in more than one place?

We post our pets in multiple locations to maximize their exposure so they will be adopted quickly. We live in a high kill area and the sooner we place one pet, we can rescue another one!
